All Across the Whedonverse
When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11
Where: Boheme Collectif, 919 Gallatin Ave., Suite 8
Just in time to argue over Buzzfeed's ranking of 117 Buffyverse characters (Anya was robbed; In what world does Drusilla deserve to be No. 12??), Boheme Collectif is throwing a Joss Whedon-themed party this weekend. Featuring original artwork by local artists, a performance from Music City Burlesque's Bettie B. Cupp, aerial feats by Beyond Wing's Crystal Starr and musical performances from the White Hats, not to mention plenty of drinks and Scooby Snacks, the party should last until late tomorrow night.
Here's Randy Fox's pick from this week's Scene with more details:
Once again the merry crew of Bohéme Collectif are arranging a sumptuous marriage of art and geek culture. This time the focus is on the Sartre of nerdery, writer and director Joss Whedon. This multimedia event will feature a variety of visual art by local artists, burlesque performance and music inspired by the infinitely geek-out-able fictional universes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse, Whedon’s take on the Marvel Comics universe and more.
Live music will be performed by the White Hats, and DJs Sooper Grover and Mage will be spinning grooves throughout the event. Costumes are encouraged, with prizes for the top three, so break out your best vampire slayer togs, space cowboy duds or super-suit.
Buy advance tickets for $15, or get one for $20 at the door.
