If you had told me 20 years ago that one day AT&T would give money for a don't-text-and-drive documentary to the director of Even Dwarfs Started Small and Aguirre, the Wrath of God ... well, first I'd have said, "What's 'texting'?"
But set aside a half-hour to watch Werner Herzog's "From One Second to the Next," a wrenching public-service film about the dangers of texting while driving financed by AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile as part of the It Can Wait campaign. This is Herzog in icily focused mode, which makes the interviews with parents, relatives, survivors and inadvertent killers — all of whose lives changed in a sick instant — even more upsetting.
Pass it along.
