In his ongoing effort to define East Nashville’s literary center, East Side Story’s Chuck Beard is taking his all-local bookstore idea one step further with this new community event celebrating words, wine and song. East Side Storytellin’ is a twice-monthly meet-up at Rumours East that pairs a $6 house wine special with readings from noted authors and jams from talented Nashville songwriters.
“East Side Story was designed to encourage, support, cultivate and provide a platform for local writers to tell their best story,” says Beard. “East Side Storytellin’ will allow us to do this on a regular basis while reaching a larger audience.”
East Side Story has also teamed up with big-band radio station WAMB to record the Storytellin’ events. Every show will be broadcast at a later date and archived at the bookstore’s website. Tonight’s get-together will feature Nashville author River Jordan reading from her book Praying for Strangers, followed by the mellow musings of the musical duo Jenny and Tyler. The event is free, but reservations are required. Call Rumours East at 262-5346 to save your spot.
