The reports we've been getting back from people attending The Belcourt's Studio Ghibli retrospective have put a lump in our throat — whether it's parents showing their 6-year-olds a subtitled movie for the first time (and not having to leave!) or adults snuffling at the end of what we've heard was the discovery of the series, Only Yesterday.
You've got one last night to catch two lovely Ghibli animated films: Ponyo (7 p.m.), which boasts some of the most sheerly adorable character designs we've ever seen, and the studio's most recent film, The Secret World of Arrietty (9 p.m.), a limpid version of Mary Norton's little-people classic The Borrowers. We'll be sorry to see these go.
