Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar Plans a Mardi Gras Throw-Down

It seems like every Tuesday is Fat Tuesday for me lately, but the official mardi gras this year falls on March 4. This is much later than last year when Easter was about as early on the calendar as the moon phases could allow for. (Actually the earliest that Mardi Gras can occur is Feb. 3, but that won't happen again until 2285. The more you know ... )

There's no place better to celebrate Fat Tuesday in town than Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar, the festive spot in Printers Alley. They've got a big party planned for March 4, with all the accoutrements that you would expect from an authentic Big Easy throw-down.

They'll have New Orleans food specials like Shrimp & Crawfish Étouffée, Red Beans & Rice, Gumbo, Jambalaya and King Cake for dessert. If you get the baby in the King Cake, it's on you to host next year's party, so cut carefully. They've also got a crawfish boil planned so you can get your fill of mudbugs.

BSBB will also feature New Orleans specialty drinks like buckets of Hurricanes (ooh ... my head), Hand Grenades (Danger, Will Robinson!), "Big Ass" Beers (I have ugly memories of these) and other drink deals. Live music will be playing all day along with street performers, a photo booth, door prizes and other giveaways.

Dig out your best mask and beads, and get ready for a real fais do-do downtown!
