Two Ten Jack Celebrates Grand Opening Next Week with Special Dinner

Two Ten Jack, the highly-anticipated new izakaya-style restaurant in East Nashville is set to open next week. Dana Kopp Franklin introduced us to the concept of the izakaya last November; it's essentially a pub where folks go to unwind and socialize at the end of the day while enjoying a menu of comfort foods and traditional beverages. To achieve this here in Nashville, Two Ten Jack provides Japanese-style food and drink with a hint of southern inspiration. There is bar seating, communal tables, and U-shaped booths that seat up to eight people comfortably so you can gather with friends to stay a while as folks come and go. The menu features small plates of yakitori (skewers), sashimi, Japanese-style pickles and other appetizers as well as a variety of traditional house-made kodawari (artisanal) ramen dishes, based in pork, chicken, and vegetarian broths.

Friends of the staff and owners as well as members of the media got a sneak preview of the restaurant last week where a limited menu of finger-food-style tapas was available for sampling. Favorites at our table included edamame with spicy miso, shishito peppers with honey soy and sticky almonds, and chicken karaage, marinated dark meat chicken that is deep fried as well as takoyaki, a hush puppy-like fritter filled with minced octopus. A couple of the cocktails on tap were also available, the favorite being the shōchū and house tonic (with flavors of lemongrass, ginger, and pineapple, which is good enough that they should sell it separately), as well as craft beers. More spirits, beers (including Asian and bottled beers), and wine will be available; beverages were curated by Jon Yeager of Pour Taste.

Next weekend, on January 24th and 25th, the restaurant will host its Grand Opening celebration with a special dinner. Tickets to the event are required for entry (regular dinner service will not be available) and will include a five-course meal with drink pairings featuring specialty ramen prepared, in part by special guest, Chef Shigetoshi Nakamura of Sun Noodle Ramen Lab along with Culinary Director Chef Jason McConnell and Executive Chef Jess Benefield.

Chef Nakamura is the youngest of Japan’s “Four Ramen Devas,” the “gods of the cuisine,” so this will be a very special event. Ticket information is available on the Two Ten Jack website or you can get to it directly here. The cost is $65.

After the grand opening, the restaurant will be open daily for dinner service beginning Monday, January 27 (lunch service is planned for the future). The bar will open at 4 p.m. each day, the kitchen at 5 p.m. It will close at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. However, the restaurant will be closed Sunday, February 2. Reservations will only be taken for parties of six or more; other parties will be first come, first served.
