I've fallen victim to the idea of pairing a Beaujolas Nouveau with the Thanksgiving meal because the acclaimed release day falls close to the holiday meal. It's generally not a good idea because the hype behind this wine usually doesn't live up to the reality that the light, fruity wine can't hold up to all the butter that we usually add to our Thanksgiving dishes.
Fortunately, 100% Italiano is coming to the rescue with a special event at Rumours 12th and Division this Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., which they are calling "Picking the Right Wine for Thanksgiving." At the event, MariaPia De Pasquale of 100% Italiano will share her tips while you taste five wines served with a pate of light appetizers.
The evening of fun costs $30 per person (tax + tips included) and you can get $5 off if you mention that you saw it on Facebook or Twitter, even if we know you found out about it here on Bites. It'll be our little secret. Registration is required in advance, so call (615) 432-2740 to save a seat. Your Thanksgiving guests will thank you.
