Don't You Need a Sugar Rush About Now?

Those of us of a certain age remember when Beavis (of and Butthead MTV infamy) would get jacked up on too much sugar, and he would turn into his alter ego Cornholio. This unforgettable bit still comes up in our vernacular, especially after trips to Prince's Hot Chicken Shack.

But there's nothing wrong with an occasional sugar binge, and your friends here at the Scene are happy to oblige you. Next week is the third annual Sugar Rush, Thursday, Oct. 24, at The Mall at Green Hills. This 21-and-up event is quite competitive, as local confectioners, creameries and cupcakeries compete against one another for the title of Music City Sweetheart. Two-time defending champion The Cupcake Collection will return to battle challengers including Nothing Bundt Cakes, Retro Sno, Faye's Cake Pops, Fox's Donut Den, Riffs Fine Street Foods and many others for the right to claim sucrose supremacy.

Tickets are available at the event website for $20 and for $15 until Oct. 23 from the concierge desk at The Mall at Green Hills. Your admission includes two drink tickets and all you can eat from 6 to 8 p.m. Go ahead and schedule that YMCA Boot Camp to start up on Oct. 25 ...
