OK, I've got something to say. I'm going to need a little volume, though …

THE LOVELESS BISCUITS & PEACH JAM ICE CREAM AT JENI'S SPLENDID IS THE GREATEST ICE CREAM IN THE HISTORY OF EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE AND OHMYGODISITAWESOME.

Well, now that that's out of the way, let's talk rationally about this.
Lots of places do seasonal ice cream these days and, for my money, Jeni's does it as well as anybody. The key is to do something beyond just whatever fruit happens to be coming in.
To wit: They don't just do a raspberry, it's sweet corn and black raspberries. They don't just do banana, it's bananas and honey. And they don't just do peach, they mix peach jam with biscuits and buttermilk ice cream.
I really think it's a genius concoction. Some people may be put off by bits of biscuit, but it's a great contrast to such a rich buttermilk base and the result is a buttery biscuit taste. And using the jam instead of whole fruit creates these swirls of frozen, gooey peach goodness with little chunks of peach.
How good is it? I don't even eat peaches.
Now it's not actually Loveless Cafe biscuits and peach jam going into the final product. The folks at Jeni's say it's inspired by the Highway 100 restaurant, but they did a nice job getting it close enough to work, mixing with a blend of buttermilk and cream for a toe-curlingly good final product.
There is one local connection: The peaches in their jam come from The Peach Truck.
Is this the greatest ice cream ever? It's certainly the best that's come out this summer.
