Another Reason to Hit Up This Weekend's Big Barbecue Fest

I told you all earlier this month about the Music City Festival and BBQ Championship, which will be held this weekend, Aug. 23-24, downtown. Originally, organizers planned to hold the event on the Lawn at RIverfront, the nice grassy field between the Shelby and Korean Veterans Bridge.

Unfortunately, the festival was thrown a curve ball at pretty close to the last minute as someone decided to re-sow the lawn with new grass, perhaps in preparation for the Southern Ground Festival that uses the same space next month. This means that the BBQ Festival has to scramble to relocate along the riverfront.

They are quite capable of pulling this off, since that's where the event has been held over the past few years, but the expense of having to deal with traffic control and street closings will be a real kick in the snout financially for the festival. It's already a great event that is worth attending, but in case you were on the fence about going, head on down and help these hardworking folks out. It'll be a smoky good time!
