Start Lining Up Reservations for Nashville Restaurant Week

Clear your calendar for next week, because it’s time for the late-summer edition of Nashville Restaurant Week, brought to you by the members of Nashville Originals, the group formed by owners of independent restaurants in the area. Participating establishments will be offering special menus and price points from Monday, Aug. 19, through Sunday, Aug. 25. Many offer fixed menus at $20.13 and $30.13 per person for dinner, but there are a few lunch offers and other specials as well. Restaurant Week is a great excuse to get out and try out a new place while spending your money locally. There are even participating restaurants in Brentwood and Franklin, for those of you in Williamson County.

If this is your first Restaurant Week, here are a couple of tips.

First, browse all the menus before deciding where to go. Be strategic! Also make note of which restaurants don’t allow substitutions if you have dietary restrictions that don’t line up with the offerings. Here’s a cheat, though: Germantown Café, Cabana, PM, Suzy Wong’s House of Yum and a few others all offer great selections for each of the courses that fit a variety of special diets. All great choices if you’ve got a big, diverse group.

Second, remember that the restaurants are busy due to the specials, so plan accordingly. Early or late dinners might be easier to arrange (particularly if reservations are not available). And be patient with the service for the same reason. I sometimes hear, “Oh, the food was great, but the service wasn't” from diners after a Restaurant Week meal. Special menus and abnormally large crowds can make things hectic for the wait staff. Relax, have fun, and find a new favorite.

The participating restaurants are: 55 South, 417 Union, Bound’ry, CABANA, Caffe Nonna, Cross Corner Bar & Grill, Crow’s Nest, F. Scott’s Restaurant & Jazz Bar, Germantown Café, Holland House Bar & Refuge, Jackson’s, Jimmy Kelly’s Steakhouse, McCabe Pub, Mere Bulles, Midtown Cafe, Nero’s Grill, Noshville Delicatessen, The Pineapple Room at Cheekwood, PM, Provence Breads & Café, Puckett’s Gro. & Restaurant, Puckett’s Boat House, Red Pony, Saffire, Silly Goose, Sunset Grill, Suzy Wong’s House of Yum, Table 3, Tin Angel, Valentino’s Ristorante, Watermark Restaurant, Wild Iris and The Yellow Porch. Check the Restaurant Week website (which will be updated through the week) for menus and more information.
