Kayne Prime Named a Top 10 Steakhouse in the U.S. by Gayot

International travel and dining guide Gayot has included Nashville's Kayne Prime in this year's list of the Top 10 Steakhouses in America.

Kayne Prime is the "crown jewel restaurant" of entrepreneur Chris Hyndman's MStreet Entertainment Group. It shares the MStreet Corridor (McGavock Street between 11th and 12th avenues just off the Gulch) with sister restaurants Virago and Whiskey Kitchen. (The fourth MStreet sibling is Tavern in Midtown.)

On the Guyot list, Kayne Prime rubs shoulders with the likes of Wolfgang Puck’s Cut in Beverly Hills, Gordon Ramsey Steak in Las Vegas and Quality Meats in New York City.

Here's what Gayot had to say about Kayne Prime:

Before Kayne Prime opened in 2011, Nashville was stuck in chain steakhouse purgatory. Now, you may like chain steakhouses, and we’ve got nothing against them, but character and verve are not their specialties. Kayne Prime, on the other hand, is unique. The beef is carefully sourced and aged; the wine list is dynamic and delightful; the atmosphere is sophisticated, not stuffy. You can get your Wagyu here, yes, but you can also order a bone-in rib-eye or a progression of NY strip steak three ways.

You can also opt for a wood-fired whole lobster or trout with a mustard crust if red meat doesn’t fit the bill. The sides, which are so often phoned in at lesser steakhouses, have cultivated a cult following in Nashville, especially the cream corn brûlée.

The wine list includes several global heavy-hitters as well as a monster “Ultimate Steakhouse Wines” top ten that might just bust your budget. Desserts change seasonally, but you can always get artisan preserves served with your choice of local boutique gin or vodka — a lovely change of pace from the usual port or cordial. Or select a fine cheese from an extensive offering.
