Food Trucks to Invade Public Square for Cherry Blossom Festival

Saturday, March 23, is the date for this year's Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival at Public Square in front of the Metro Courthouse downtown. This family-friendly event is free and celebrates Japanese culture though art, music, performances and food.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and this year for the first time, Third Avenue will be shut down to traffic to allow for a dedicated food truck area with seating in the festival's own Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Cafe. All of the food trucks are planning a special Japanese-inspired menus for the event. Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams plans a Cherry Lambic Sorbet and Riff's is working on what should be some epic okonomiyaki. I had some of those awesome savory Japanese pancakes at Xiao Bao Biscuit in Charleston, S.C., last week, so I'm officially an okonomiyaki fan now.

Here's the complete list of food vendors participating in the "Taste of Japan."
