Sipper Bowl Sunday: Cocktail Recipes to Enjoy During the Big Game

Now I don't know where your allegiances lie for the big game this weekend, but Super Bowl Sunday has definitely evolved into a major eating and drinking event. Super Bowl parties are the place for you to show off your very best snack recipes, and apparently the event has caused a major chicken wing shortage in the U.S. Or then again, maybe it hasn't.

In addition to all that food, there are liquid libations to be considered. As always, you need to plan for a lack of liquor availability on Sundays, but if you take along a growler or two of your favorite brew from one of the many new beer outlets springing up around town, you'll always be welcome.

If you did plan ahead and acquire some spirits to show off your team spirit, here are two big game-appropriate recipes thoughtfully provided by the folks at Wild Turkey:

Fourth and Long

1 oz. Wild Turkey 101
3/4 oz. Wild Turkey 81
1/2 oz. Lemon juice
1/2 oz. Aperol
1/2 oz. Maple Syrup

Combine all ingredients, shake vigorously and serve in a high ball glass. Garnish with a wedge of lemon.

Give em the Bird Blitz

1 tablespoon fig jam
1½ oz. Wild Turkey 81
¼ oz. Orange liqueur
½ oz. fresh lemon juice

Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into an old fashioned glass over fresh ice.

I don't know whether Wild Turkeys and Ravens are natural enemies or not, but it couldn't hurt to numb yourself a little bit in advance to prepare for the Ray Lewis-athon that will be 19 hours of television coverage on game day.
