Wandering Wino: Oktoberfest Edition

This week’s tasting calendar is pretty light, but I’m guessing the owners of local wine shops have a good idea of how busy this weekend will be in Nashville. With two festivals on Saturday in Germantown, the Southern Festival of Books and the second annual Battle of the Food Trucks at Greer Stadium on Sunday, there are plenty of fun events to keep you occupied.

But if you want to kick off the weekend’s festivities with a fiesta, Brinkmann’s Wine and Spirits in Cool Springs is the place to be tonight. They’ll be tasting tequilas with Eric Rubin of Tres Agaves Tequila today from 4 to 6 p.m. Eric will be serving up a tasting of his award-winning Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo tequilas, along with his all-natural Margarita Mixer.

For more information on all things Tres Agaves Tequila, visit their website.

Hoyt Hill at Village Wines sent a special note to remind readers not to miss the upcoming tasting of the Pol Roger Champagnes, including the legendary Cuvee Winston Churchill, this Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m. at 360 Bistro. At only $15 per person, it’s a heck of a deal. (The taste of the Winston Churchill alone is worth more than that.) Call Hoyt at (615) 382-2102 for more information or to hold a spot for this special tasting event.

Village and 360 Bistro are also teaming up on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. for a tasting of the wines from Margerum Vineyards with Doug Margerum. Based in Santa Barbara County in California, Mergerum is primarily known for its Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and a Rhone blend called M5. They also make some really nice Rosé wines, so hopefully Doug will bring some along.

Until next week, auf wiedersehen.
