If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at being a winemaker, Fleming’s on West End is offering to give you a chance to learn how to blend varietals to create your own unique wine. Oct. 16 is Be a Winemaker for a Night! — A Hands-On Blending Experience in Partnership with Raymond Vineyards. Plus after you’re done, you’ll have a concoction that you can sample, share and celebrate with your fellow wine enthusiasts. I used to try to do that with the different flavors form the Icee machine, but I was never very good at it. There’s a reason we called them “suicides.”
The evening is $65 per person plus tax and gratuity, and each attendee will enjoy:

This month, we will be featuring wines from Chile and Argentina, the largest wine-producing regions in the continent. Enjoy wines while learning about the climate and terrain of the region, as well as how the combination of new world and old world flavors make South American wines distinctive.

Also in Cool Springs, Sperry’s has a couple of tasting events coming up, the first one for whiskey and the second for wine. They will host a Jack Daniel's Whiskey Tasting on Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. with master taster Jeff Norman in attendance. He is the man who ensures every drop of Jack Daniel's whiskey is up to the standards that Mr. Jack himself held when he first began making whiskey in the mid-1800s, and I personally think he has one of the coolest jobs on the planet. Jeff's family has dedicated more than 70 years of service to making the world's most popular whiskey.

Later in the month, Sperry's will host a Rombauer Vineyards wine tasting on Oct. 29 at their Cool Springs location, also starting at 6 p.m. Jeff Papa of Rombauer Vineyards will be in attendance to educate and answer questions about the Rombauer portfolio. This event costs $25 and reservations can be made at the same number as above.
