Old favorite the Palm Restaurant downtown across from the Bridgestone Arena really wants you to come visit them and drink some wine. Why not oblige them? To encourage you, they're throwing a special dinner featuring sparkling wine and offering a nice discount on some of their high-end grape juice in the next few weeks.

On Aug. 17 starting at 6:30 p.m., they are hosting their sixth annual “Boots, Bubbles & Barbecue” dinner. The five-course dinner will showcase a menu by executive chef Lee Morris that doesn't look like what you've come to expect from the conservative steakhouse. Here's what Chef Morris has planned for you:

First course

Chilled summer corn bisque with country cracklings and queso fresco

paired with Poema Cava Extra Dry

Second course

Wedge salad with candied bacon, marinated cherry tomatoes, bleu cheese and jalapeño ranch dressing

paired with Segura Viudas Reserva Heredad

Third course

Cast iron seared scallops topped with cantaloupe and jalapeño bacon

paired with Segura Viudas Reserva Heredad

Fourth course

Applewood smoked prime rib with au jus, roasted garlic and atomic horseradish aioli

Paired with Taittinger Rosé NV

Family-style sides

White cheddar creamed spinach

Mac & cheese

Fifth course

Chocolate peanut butter tart with banana caramel ice cream

Paired with Fonseca 20 year Tawny

Wine pairings will be presented by Michelle Rubarts of Horizon Wine and Spirits.

Tickets are $115 per person, exclusive of tax and gratuity. Reservations are required, so contact Paige Dixon at (615) 742-3193 or pdixon@thepalm.com.

If bubbles aren't your thing or you can't make it that particular night, Pam would still love for you to drop in for some wine or a cocktail or three. From now until the end of September, the restaurant is discounting every single one of their wines by the bottle by 50 percent off on Sunday and Monday nights. With more than 70 different wines on the menu, there should be something for every palate and price point and at really decent prices.

For your late-night drinking pleasure, during the month of August, The Palm also will offer classic cocktail, signature cocktails and after-dinner drinks for $8.37 after 9 p.m. daily. More than 25 cocktails are featured at this special price, including classics such as margaritas, cosmos and martinis, as well as specialty drinks like the Honey Jack Julep, featuring Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey and the spiced cucumber Collins. Head down and discover a new favorite drink.
