Anyway, on with the tastings:
Grand Cru’s regular Friday tasting tonight from 5 until 6:30 features three refreshing wines to help beat the heat. They’ll be popping Dominio de Tharsys Cava, Forefathers Shiraz and Thomas Patrick Chardonnay.
On Saturday from 3 to 4:30 p.m., it’s time for spirits. They’ll be making gin and tonics with Beefeater 24 and also tasting a new liqueur, Forbidden Secret Dark Mocha American Cream. I’m not sure I’d mix the two, but feel free to drop in and pick your favorite.
West Meade Wine and Liquor Mart aims to put you in the pink with a selection of rosé wines at their “Happy Hour Friday” in-store tasting from 4 to 7 tonight. They’ll be pouring Casal Carcia, Von Schleinitz and La Vielle Ferme as well as fixing up a batch of Ginger Pear Sangria, which they were gracious enough to share the recipe for below:
Ginger Pear Sangria
1 Bottle Dry White Wine
1/2 Cup White Cranberry Juice
1/4 Cup Mathilde Pear Liqueur
2 Ripe Bartlett Pears
1 Piece Fresh Ginger (approximately 3 inches long, peeled and sliced)
Combine all of the ingredients in a large ceramic or glass container and stir well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (best if overnight). - Serve over ice.
You’ll also be able to get 10 percent off any of the featured wines during the duration of the tasting.
Finally, don't forget to RSVP for the Italian Wine and Food: Piedmont dinner hosted by Fido this Wednesday, July 11, at 7 p.m. The dinner is $50 per person, inclusive and will include an educational presentation by Damian Serong and what looks to be a fantastic menu from chef John Stephenson:
