Open Thread Asks, "What's for Breakfast?"

Biscuit-makin time at Porter Road Butcher
As some of my co-workers have pointed out, I can be a picky eater. And then, when I finally do find stuff that I totally love, well, I don't shut up about it. In fact, they're drafting up a resolution, attempting to ban me from mentioning Porter Road Butcher or Barista Parlor more than once a week. (Interestingly, though, they have no intention of banning me from bringing in samples from either establishment, which I do from time to time.)

Suffice to say that when the two establishments banded together to create a sausage biscuit to be served as a Barista breakfast item, I damn near exploded. And when I tasted it for the first time, I almost fainted from the ecstasy. Featuring a PRB sausage patty, biscuits made with Hatcher Family Dairy buttermilk and Delvin Farms strawberry jam, it is pure, unadulterated locavore euphoria.

I know what you're thinking: "Strawberry jam, on sausage?" That was my thought too — until I bit into it. The health-conscious little birdie that whispers in my ear will only allow me one or two a week. (When I told one of the PBR butchers how fabulous it was, he said, "You know the secret? Lots of fat!")

But if you're a carnivore, and haven't tried this porcine delicacy, get your duff over there! But get there early. They're known to run out by 10 or 11 a.m.

Do you have any guilty breakfast pleasures you'd like to share? Any other juicy restaurant news or rumors? Let's a have it!
