The Skillery, a local organization created to help match people in our community who want to share their knowledge with students who are willing to learn, has really started to hit its stride. I've attended two excellent bourbon tastings and history classes, and they continue to add interesting seminars to their schedule.

Now they are presenting the St. Patty's Day Spring Fling on Saturday, March 17, from noon until 6 p.m. at The Green Wagon at 1100 Forrest Ave. in East Nashville. They promise the free event will be a day of community, learning and fun, brought to you by The Green Wagon and Landscape Solutions.

They invite you to come on by for some free green beer on St. Patrick’s Day while you enjoy eats from Terra Delicious and Blackbird Heritage Farm. While the admission and beer are gratis, you are encouraged to make a donation to support the Martha O’Bryan Center.

It’s not just a party, though. There will also be educational events as representatives from Landscape Solutions will teach a workshop about sustainable landscape practices and how to get your landscape ready for spring. Nashville Foodscapes will talk about growing your own food at home, and the staff of All Seasons Gardening & Brewing will show you how to brew your own beer at home.

Here’s the full schedule:

FOODSCAPING: STOP MOWING AND START GROWING

If you'd like to attend one of the workshops, registration is required (even if the workshop is free).

The Landscape Maintenance Workshop is free, as is the Foodscaping Workshop, while the Home Brewing Workshop has a $10 admission fee. Tickets to all three workshops are available through The Skillery, of course.
