The buzz about Calfkiller Brewing Co. out of Sparta, Tenn., continues to be strong around these parts. Their handcrafted beers are taking up considerable refrigerator space in the homes of local aleophiles who pick up growlerfuls of the stuff from local beer stores. With four brews in current release, including their flagship brands Grassroots Ale and J. Henry Originals Mild as well as a Christmas Bonus and a Classic Stout, Calfkiller has a strong offering of very interesting beers.

If you want to try them all at one sitting, mark your calendar for Monday, Dec. 19, so that you don't miss the beer dinner that Flying Saucer Draught Emporium on 10th Avenue South is throwing starting at 6 p.m. Special guests Dave and Don Sergio, Calfkiller founders and brewmasters will be there to answer questions and share their wares as the Saucer presents a seasonal beer dinner, with beer and food pairings utilizing many fall and winter flavors and ingredients.

Admission is $25 for Flying Saucer's U.F.O. members and $30 for non-members. Tickets will not be available on the day of the event, so head on over the Flying Saucer or call them at (615) 259-3039 to hold your spot for what should prove to be a great evening of drinking and dining.
