Last year I told you about the first annual Savor History, and event where Belmont-area restaurants donate a portion of a day's proceeds toward the upkeep of Miss Adelicia Acklen's former home, the Belmont Mansion. This year dining establishments in the Edgehill Village, Hillsboro Village and 12South neighborhoods have joined in the fun to celebrate Miss Adelicia's birthday. A gentleman would never reveal exactly how old a lady would have been, but I will say that she would be older than the state of Mississippi.

The event is for breakfast, lunch or dinner Tuesday, March 15. This year's participating restaurants include: Taco Mamacita in Edgehill Village; Burger Up and LB’s MarketHouse in 12South; Bongo Java on Belmont Boulevard; and Cabana, Pancake Pantry, Sunset Grill, Provence, Boscos, tayst and Fido in Hillsboro Village. Nearby retailer Village Wines is also joining the effort.

If you stop by Belmont Mansion between 10 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on March 15 with your dining receipt, you can take the full-length tour for just $1. Heck, it's worth that just to peek in somebody's medicine cabinets.

Savor History: A Dining Experience Benefiting Historic Belmont Mansion is co-chaired by Keith Durbin, Gary Bynum, David Wayne Reed and Tim Walker. Shops and restaurants are still being added. Keep watching the Belmont Mansion website for updates.
