Fish & Co. Reopens, Hires Veteran Chef Josh Weekly



Fish & Co. reopened today in its new home on 12th Avenue South, and this morning a new chef joined the team to take charge of the seafood restaurant as it reinvents itself in the new neighborhood.

The new guy is Josh Weekly, a veteran chef with a long slate of credits, including F. Scott's and Vanderbilt Plaza. He's probably best remembered as chef-owner of former Midtown seafood spot Atlantis.

Weekly even has an impressive credit on the national scale, having done a stint at Le Bernadin in New York, considered one of the top restaurants in the world. Most recently he ran his own high-end catering company.

Now Weekly is executive chef at Fish & Co., working under Louis Osteen, who serves as executive chef for all of Hospitality Development Group's projects. That currently includes Fish & Co. and the upscale Watermark, though Osteen says the company is building up its culinary team with thoughts of eventually opening another restaurant.

"Josh is immensely talented," Osteen said this morning as Fish & Co. staff hurried over last-minute details before opening for lunch. "He has a good breadth and depth of experience. He can help us on a number of levels."

As Chris Chamberlain and I reported (on Bites and The City Paper, respectively), Jerry Brown's Hospitality Development Group closed its 12South barbecue joint Blind Pig No. 55 on Saturday and moved Fish & Co. from the Adelicia tower to take over Blind Pig's former space. The company released a partial new menu that looks impressive and appears to hit a lower price-point that is more appropriate for the food-loving but casual 12South neighborhood.

Fish & Co. is located at 2317 12th Ave. S. (320-1119). It serves lunch and dinner seven days a week.
