Fiddlecakes to Open Across from Cummins Station

Fiddlecakes owner Tasha Ross confirmed for Bites that a second location of the bakery and cafe will open across from Cummins Station in January.

The building, at 300 10th Ave. S., houses CJ Advertising. Fiddlecakes — which specializes in vegan and gluten-free pastries along with more traditional treats for omnivores — will occupy 1,200 square feet of ground-floor retail.

Ross says the feel will be different from the Eighth Avenue location, with more industrial decor to fit with the old brick and concrete floors. There will be bar seating at the window along with two-top and four-top tables. Ross and business partner Lindsey Beckner are considering a larger room in the back for meetings and gatherings, and looking at some comfortable lounge-y seating as well.

The shop will offer its gluten-free baked goods and its recently beefed-up menu of soups, salads and sandwiches. The Eighth Avenue store added a kids menu, which will carry over to the new location. Ross, a graduate of Vanderbilt's MBA program, hopes to continue building Fiddlecakes' catering and custom order clientele in the new spot.

The Eighth Avenue location (2206 Eighth Ave. S., 457-2127) is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with Saturday and Sunday hours. The new location will have "worky" hours, operating Monday through Friday only, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 or 4 p.m.
