Tonight Only! "Life and Freaky Times of Uncle Luke" and Wildness at Belcourt!

Sitting alongside 12 Monkeys and David Bowie's “Jump They Say” video as a remarkable riff on Chris Marker's La Jetée, Jillian Mayer's mind-blowing short "Life and Freaky Times of Uncle Luke" places former 2 Live Crew frontman Luther Campbell in the midst of a labyrinthine attempt to use freakiness and genetic manipulation to save future Miami from a nuclear catastrophe. Riffing on his history with the booty-bass architects of nasty as well as his own political aspirations, the film aims for (and ultimately succeeds as) an existential tragedy, using a palette that encompasses BET Uncut, Yo Gabba Gabba, Café Flesh, and Forbidden Zone.
