When: Wed., Sept. 28, 7 p.m. 2011
With the IBMA’s World of Bluegrass going on all week, the city’s full of Bill Monroe-related activities, but this one’s arguably No. 1 on the list. Take a couple of former members of Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys — one of them anchoring the evening in front of one of the hottest bands in almost any kind of music — add a handful of legit inheritors of the tradition like Skaggs and the NBB, and another dash of those who have been extending it (award-winners Dale Ann Bradley and Claire Lynch), and you've got a perfect recipe for celebration. Organized by Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum’s John Rumble and his posse, along with Blair School of Music professor Matt Combs (who wields a mean fiddle and mandolin himself), the show looks to be moving, informative, and most of all, entertaining. Oh, and it’s free, too, so get there early.
