When: Fri., March 11, 5 p.m. 2011
For nearly 40 years, Waves, Inc. has served both adults and children with developmental disabilities in Williamson County. This, their fifth annual event, serves up an opportunity to view and bid on art by members of the service community, down a tasty dinner, and then enjoy concertizing by one of the area’s niftiest groups, 18 South. Though singers Jon Randall and Jessi Alexander tend to get the lion’s share of the attention, 18 South are definitely an all-star aggregation, with a muscular rhythm section featuring bassman Mike Bub and drummer Larry Atamanuik (abetted by Randall’s acoustic guitar), accomplished soloists in Jimmy Wallace (keyboard) and the awesome Guthrie Trapp (guitar) and a song list full of rootsy, flavorful originals. And if the full fare for the evening’s activities is beyond your means, you can still get in on the concert with a music-only ticket. How can you go wrong? For more info, visit wavesinc.com.
