A Christmas Carol: The Musical

When: Nov. 30-Dec. 16 2012

Dickens gets doubled this week, with two separate productions from very active theater companies. First, Studio Tenn returns to the timeless tale for the third consecutive year. Chip Arnold reprises his impressive performance as Scrooge, and we can expect the same wondrous story as adapted by Paula Y. Flautt. However, director Matt Logan has brought his background as a designer to bear in this reimagined staging, incorporating contemporary design elements that did not factor into the company’s prior mountings. The second mounting is The Larry Keeton Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol: The Musical. This production is helmed by the directorial team of Jamie London and Ginger Newman, and features a large cast of community thespians led by Kevin Driver as Scrooge. This reworking, with book and lyrics by Mike Ockrent and Lynn Ahrens and a score by Alan Menken, was a Christmastime staple in New York City from 1994 to 2003. A traditional Christmas meal is served with the show.
