Kate’s Kitchen Introduces Junior Chef Classes for Kids Starting Saturday

Kate’s Kitchen, a French cafe-style restaurant in Cool Springs is offering cooking classes starting this Saturday for aspiring junior chefs. The classes are offered for kids ages 5 to 12, and the first two classes will focus on sweet treats with a Valentine’s Day theme. The classes will be taught by Kate’s Kitchen pastry chef, Tracy Treville, who relocated to Nashville from Paris (France, not Tennessee) last year.

Chef Treville will teach the kids about chocolate, how to temper it and the techniques for dipping, drizzling and decorating. They’ll even learn how to make piping bags out of parchment paper. They’ll also make other treats with dried fruit and nuts. The kids get to keep their creations and will also package them for gift-giving. In other words, parents, this is a great Valentine’s Day gift for your kids and your spouse. The treats would also make wonderful gifts for grandparents, teachers or other special people.

The Valentine’s Day classes are 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Kate’s Kitchen in Cool Springs this Saturday, Feb. 1, and again on Saturday, Feb. 8. The cost is $25 per child, which includes all supplies.

Kate’s Kitchen, part of the group that also includes Mack and Kate’s, M. Restaurant and Bar, and others opened late last year and specializes in French-inspired cuisine.

The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch in a bistro setting with dinner foods packaged for takeout during the week, and dinner service offered on weekends. Cooking classes for adults are offered as well, taught by chef Alain Treville. Check the Facebook page for more information.
