Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint to Open in Mt. Juliet Tomorrow ... No Really!

It's been more than a year since I first wrote in this space that Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint would open a new location in Mt. Juliet later in the summer. I just didn't say which summer. I even wrote a Writer's Choice for Best of Nashville where I called the impending opening "Best BBQ Expansion." Pat Martin certainly didn't want to make a liar out of me, and the ongoing delays were even more frustrating to him and his staff than they were to those of us who are hungrily anticipating the new location.

Well, the wait is finally over as the new outpost of Martin's will officially open tomorrow, June 27, at 11 a.m. (It's actually the third Martin's because he also has a place in Morgantown, W.V. And we're all agog over plans for a Martin's Bar-B-Que on Belmont Boulevard in Nashville.)

The new restaurant is located at 200 Crossings Lane across from the Chick-fil-a in the Providence retail development. Be gentle on the new staff as the restaurant is opening without a "friends and family period." As Pat told me, after such a long build-out, "We can't afford the time to ease into the water, just gonna have to put a Speedo on and do a Greg Louganis off the high dive."

Don't concentrate too hard on that visual, but rest assured that the staff at Martin's has been well-trained and that they will open with plenty of experience cooking pigs. From the pictures I've seen, the interior decor should be very similar to the original joint in Nolensville, but he did request that Martin's fans contribute their own old license plates for the walls.

According to Google Maps, the new location is about 10 minutes closer to the Scene offices than Nolensville. While we wait for Belmont to open, I think that there may be some I-40 mileage in my immediate future. Congrats to Pat and the whole Martin's team. Oh, and to the residents of Mt. Juliet!
