Pack a Healthier Snack with The Skillery

In their first year, the organization called The Skillery has really grown into their mission of providing educational opportunities for Nashvillians, taught by members of the local community.

Coming up this Saturday, Sept. 29, they're offering a class called "Healthy Food for Families — Snack Edition" from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Providence Farms at 141 Spencer Creek Road in Franklin. The class will be taught by chef Colby Durden, who promises:

Healthy, yummy recipes that the whole family can enjoy. This class will teach you easy snacks you can make with your kids and a few recipes they can make on their own!

Recipes Include:
Very Berry Vegan Gel
Fruit Leather
Zucchini Banana Muffins
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies (with veggies)

The class will be hands-on. With 8 people it will be broken down into two teams of four. Each team will work together to complete each recipe. Skills learned will be small knife skills, mixing, cooking methods, grating, etc. Any food left over will be taken home by participants along with a recipe packet to make again.

There are only a few tickets available on the Skillery website at $49 per student. But really, can you put a price on your kids' health?
