The Happiest of Hours at Fish & Co.

Fish & Co., the restaurant in the former Miro space on the ground floor of the Adelicia, has the eyes of many Nashville gourmands fixed upon it. James Beard Award-winning Chef Louis Osteen's new menu has some outstanding versions of his low-country favorites, but if you're not up for a full sit-down dinner experience, try their outstanding happy hour.

Served in the comfortable bar area from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, the deals include selected wines by the glass and well cocktails for $5 and all draft beer for $3. The noshing options revolve around some of your favorite bivalves, with medium-sized Gulf oysters on the half-shell and littleneck clams for $6/dozen. Fret not about the dirty BP devils; these oysters are fully inspected and had a wonderfully fresh taste without being overly salty. I also appreciated the fact that they weren't too big to eat in one bite.

If you don't like them raw, Chef Osteen is also offering three spicy fried oysters served with Rooster mayonnaise for $2.50. Southern-inspired bar snacks include "Paté of the South" (a creamy pimento cheese dip), baked Sicilian olives and boiled peanuts.

The atmosphere is clubby: Adelicia residents winding down after a hard day earning their mortgage payments rub elbows with Vandy students and other denizens of the Midtown neighborhood. Valet parking is available, but if you want to feed the meter there are almost always spots in front of the Adelicia dog park beside the building. Give Fish & Co. a try this week!
