Santa Fe Cattle Files For Bankruptcy Protection



Brentwood-based Santa Fe Holding Co., parent of roadhouse-themed restaurant chain Santa Fe Cattle Co., filed for bankruptcy protection yesterday, according to, where the story is available to subscribers.

The company released a statement in which it said it would use the Chapter 11 reorganization process "to strengthen its financial position which will improve operating and financial performance."

Danny York and Dave Wachtel--the pair that co-founded Logan's Roadhouse--introduced the Santa Fe concept in 1996. York, who also operates Mère Bulles, sold his stake to Wachtel and ultimately repurchased it after Wachtel's death. In the last two years, Santa Fe has been on a growth spurt, with plans to grow from 17 to 100 units.
